This book has simple rhyming text illustrated with elaborately staged, brightly-colored photographs of the events of the story rendered in clay. My eight-year-old daughter liked the book so much that she read it aloud to me (not something she often does), and added "sn" to the beginning of her words in conversation, in imitation of the text. Some of the words are difficult for beginning readers; an adult would best read the text to younger children. Excellent for ages 4 to 9 or 10.
(Full disclosure; one of the authors [Jason] is my nephew and my daughter's cousin - but I don't think she's old enough to have her tastes influenced by family obligations!)

What a charming book! It reminded me of my first love, Gumby, remember him? Claymation is a warm and welcome sight in this day of high-tech everything. I gave a copy of the book to the best critics in my opinion, my nieces and nephew (ages 10, 7 and 5). All three gave Snobbles a big "Snumbs Up!"
This book will enchant you and your child from start to finish! It's the kind of book that your child will pick up and stare at each page, finding something new every time. I loved the story and the snappy rhythm. The graphics are bright, fun and inviting. The story line sneaks in a nice message of tolerance. Buy this book!
Snobbles the Great is GREAT! The photo-illustrations are super cool, and the story is fantastic, too. It's about a friendly, vegetarian snake who becomes a hero and saves his village. But the illustrations are what really make this book stand out colorful, "clay-mation" photos that bring all the characters to life. Great for kids, but adults will enjoy reading it, too.
A fun and imaginative adventure book in rhyme. As I read the book during story time to the classes in my school I heard lots of giggles. The children had fun trying to figure out the rhyming word when I would stop just short of finishing the sentence. A fun snake journey story....Snobbles the Great A Snooze Patch Story
My students throughly enjoyed this story and its wonderful illustrations.
The alliteration and rhyme kept the students playing with words long after the story ended.
I hope Jason Dobkin and Erika Gragg write sequels.
This book, filled with gorgeous bright colors and totally adorable creatures, is a delight to the eyes and imagination. I enjoyed reading it with my niece, who liked it so much she asked if we could make our own snakes out of modeling clay (a fun activity on a rainy day). The photography is beautiful, and the craftsmanship of every scene will keep you visually stimulated while you read the endearing tale of an outcast that saves the day.
Snobbles the Great is full of fantastic, bright photography that follows the tongue twisting tale of Snobbles. My twin children enjoy trying to read the book or follow along with me. The message at the end of the story is very insightful and one even my children understand. I'm extremely excited I found this book and have already suggested it to my local elementary school's Kindergarten teacher. I hope this book is in all Kindergarten classrooms for my next child that's on the way!!
