OMG, I couldn't wait for it to be over! I think the only reason I kept reading was because I just couldn't believe something was that bad. Prescot was such a whining little boy I SO just wanted to smack him into next week. The Ric comes in and he's an angsty teenage boy. Really Blair was the only character that didn't want to make me retch. No, I didn't care that much for him either but he was the least annoying of the three, not that that is saying much. Let's start with the ridiculous 'relationships' Pres has with the two women. I sure hope no one is that much of a doormat especially someone who is supposed to be a 'renowned, youngest Beard Award winner'. That right there is impossible, you can't be a complete desperate infant and become a chef period. Not to mention having these 'relationships' in the story at all was completely superfluous. Then we have complete unbelievability of the whole Ric/Prescot get together. You meet in the hall one day and are in love the next. I don't care how much suspension of disbelief you have for a story, it just SO didn't jive. Then, with this earth shattering love after a whole few days Ric storms off in a big huff over a prank. Yeah, ok. Next everyone gets back together and we have more insecurity, whining, angsty teen BS and then we get to suddenly this whiny insecure infant goes and goes all Dom???? I don't think so! It's like the author wanted to fit every single thing ever read in an erotica/romance book and shove it all into 270 some odd pages. That was done, yay (sarcasm) in a rushed and hurried way. The start of the story had some serious potential but really, it just went downhill pretty much right after the prologue Something that should have been a nice weekend read turned into a week long read just because I didn't want to pick it up again. Yes, I finished it but as stated I just hoped it'd get better. I think this is the first single star I've given a book, typically if it's that bad I just delete it and don't write a review but I just had to in the case of this one. This has obviously gotten enough good reviews to have it listed with an overall 4 star rating but I just don't get it. Maybe I got a different copy from those folks. My opinion tho, purchase at your own risk.Tags : You Can See Me [A. E. Via] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. I read this after I've completely caught up with Nothing Matters series and was introduced to Preston. There were so many times that I wanted to shake the hell out of Preston and tell him "you deserve so much better!!!" when he was hanging on to Vikki out of sheer loneliness. In comes the perfect gay McSteamy put some desperately needed lovin' on our dear Pres. Then one VERY BAD joke goes too far and McSteamy pulls the plug on the whole thing! Blair comes into the picture in a slightly unexpected way and I honestly wish we could have seen more of him. As the gorgeous threesome tries to build their life together, they make the nearly unforgivable mistake of how they treat Blair. If it was me, I wouldn't have been able to forgive the other two with just some pretty words. He's a better person than me in that scenario - I was SO SO VERY angry that they would have been so thoughtless and treated him so callously. He did get his happy ending though, at least there's that. I enjoyed the book a lot though, it was fun and heart melting and hot all at the same time.
This must’ve been written by a teenager, yet imagine my shock when I saw it was written by a grown woman. The characters were ridiculous, well except for their third Blair, who though is the youngest of their triad is damn sure the most mature. Preston and Ric, a chef and a surgeon but two of the most whiny characters in this book. Even their terms of endearments were childish. I should’ve walked away and not spent my $7 after reading a comment, because I knew exactly what I was walking into but 50 other comments raved about this book, so I thought maybe just one person, nope that person was a genius. The prank, the prank that got Ric to leave, the stupidest excuse EVER! Which explains their childish behavior, oh and suddenly Preston gets his vision back and this big bad Dom, ain’t that some Shiz. When Blair had his moment to walk, I wanted to grab him and push him out myself and help him run from this house of horrors. Triads in my opinion don’t work, because you’re always going to have that one person whose going to feel left out, especially when the third comes into an established relationship or rather a relationship that’s on the mend. Lame, super lame. Oh and don’t get me started on the POV switching nonsense, wonder if will give me refund?
I've read two other books by this author and liked them very much. I decided to check this one out also. It was so so in my opinion. I thought the idea for the story line was great. A talented guy loses his sight and has to come back and make a new life from that tragedy. Along the way he meets a wonderful guy and another guy and they fall in love.
It first hit a low spot for me when Pres is shown to be begging his fiance' and girlfriend to stay with him. He keeps calling the girlfriend trying to get her to spend time with him. He comes across as one of those clingy, needy people. I didn't care for that. Then he gets into a scary situation because of that girlfriend. He ends up alone, scared and blind in a place he doesn't recognize with big crowds ect. He gets so scared he urinates himself. I didn't care much for that either. No matter how scared and traumatized he was. But, whatever I thought.
Later in the book after having a falling out of sorts with Ric he meets Blair. All three end up together in a relationship. Blair is seen from the beginning of his entry to the book to be a macho, cocky, ultra cool cowboy. Next thing you know he turns into a 3 year old toddler throwing a temper tantrum. Seriously? This ultra cool and macho cowboy is feeling left out in the relationship. Instead of dealing with it in line with the character's personality, the author has him do a 180 personality wise and suddenly he becomes a child having a tantrum.
I like her cop books much, much better.
